Developing Healthcare in Third World Countries

Developing Healthcare in Third World Countries Good Health Care is important for many reasons, longer living for one. However, most people who live in third world countries, such as Haiti, who have little to no access to such benefits. Some sections of the population have additional barriers to overcome. These groups include poor women, young people and other socially disadvantaged groups such as drug users, sex workers and people with disabilities. The child mortality rates that are present in a developing country such as Haiti is a defecate that can spread and affect us here in the United Sates in ways such as diseases that contaminate ones who fly and frequently travel to the U.S. Not saying that we must repel any other country because they may contaminate us, we just have to focus on helping them out, to find a way to better their healthcare, so outbreaks do not happen and occur less often. With all the most expensive medical technology money can buy, the United States performs the most important health procedures. But as this society we all live in modernizes we find that other places, like Haiti, who have been through tough time, are ignored. It I known that if a country has a high level of poverty, their citizens tend to be poor, and the poor tend to have less access to health services. Lack of financial resources can create barriers when having to access services. When health care is needed but is delayed or not obtained, people’s health worsens, which in turn leads to lost income and higher health care costs, both of which contribute to poverty. These deprivations lead to bad health that are common in developing countries, and those who are in poverty tend to be more affected by it. There are many questions that concern the mechanisms of financing health services and the affordability for the poor have been one of the most controversial topics concerning acc ess to health services in developing countries. Child mortality is one of the most difficult things in the world to discuss. The death of any child is a thought many parents would never want to bear. It is depressing that millions of children die yearly and usually from preventable things, than in an industrialized country such as the United Sates, could have prevented in a heartbeat. In third world countries, however, their poverty and lack of access to health care cause many more deaths than there would be in a more industrialized country. â€Å"The 2010 maternal mortality rate per 100,000 births for Haiti is 300. The under 5 mortality rate, per 1,000 births is 89. This is compared to be such an ample number compared to the United States statistics that place the child and newborn mortality rates at 6 infant deaths per 1,000 births.† (Health, IMA World, 2010) â€Å"The highest percentage of death occurs after birth and before the fifth year of life. During the neonatal period, 75 percent of deaths occur during the first week of life. The remainders of neonatal deaths occur within the first hour after birth. Deaths within the first month can often be attributed to poor nutrition, poor prenatal care, or disease.† (Health, IMA World, 2010) Many of the deaths that occur in the first hours of life are due to poor help in delivering or poor prenatal nutrition. Children who are born into a poverty life are significantly more at risk of malnourishment and dying before the age of five. Children from developing countries are ten times more likely to die before the age of five than those from more industrialized nations. This is because children from developing nations are much more likely to lack a skilled birth attendee and the medicine and care they must obtain if they were to have complication during labor and birth. From longstanding to emerging problems, environmental factors are a root cause of a significant burden of death, disease and disability – particularly in developing countries. A significant proportion of that overall environmental disease burden can be attributed to relatively few key areas of risk. These include: unsanitary water, sanitation; vector-borne diseases; poor environment and indoor air quality; and global environmental change. Human health and environmental health are intimately intertwined. The existence of clean air, clean water, a stable climate, thriving wildlife, and well-managed natural resources determines the extent to which people can enjoy their basic rights to life, health, food, housing, livelihood, and culture.† (Gopalan, 2002) Little things such as these are being ignored and not taken into consideration. Human health and environmental sanitation and wellness are essential for life of any kind to be sustainable. As well as health requirement’s sanitation is another problem that affects these countries that lack healthcare. â€Å"Deficient sanitation systems, poor nutrition, and inadequate health services have pushed Haiti to the bottom of the World Bank’s rankings of health indicators.† (Public Health Issues and Priorities for the Haiti Earthquake) According to the United Nations World Food Programme, 80% of Haiti’s population lives in poverty. Consequently, malnutrition is one of the significant problems. The trouble in Haiti’s health care system, such as those listed above, is structural violence. Structural violence refers to organized ways in which social structures harm or otherwise disadvantage individuals. Haiti, one of many poor countries on the globe, demonstrates social arrangements and structural violence that put its individuals in higher health risks. Due to reasons such as racism, pollution, poor housing, poverty, and overall social inequality , structural violence limits residents of Haiti from proper clinical medicine. Many of these problems have surfaced after the cataclysmic earthquake of 2011. Addressing these obstacles will effectively reduce structural violence, and it will be likely that health care improvements in Haiti, which are much needed, be exceeded. IMA World Health, a specialist in providing essential healthcare services and medical supplies around the world, is a nonprofit, faith-based organization working to restore health, hope and dignity to those most in need. â€Å"Working primarily in the developing world, where an estimated 30 to 70 percent of health care is provided by faith-based organizations. IMA is an international health organization that is widely recognized for its effective and careful use of resources.† (IMA World Health, 2008) The IMA have done such a greater good for health care, an example of their work is the Medicine Boxes. â€Å"Whether responding to a natural disaster or the needs of a war-torn population, Medicine Boxes ® are found in many corners of a hurting world.† (Health, IMA World, 2010) â€Å"UNHCO is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to support individuals in emerging nations and resolve medical care problems. UNHCO works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by malnutrition.† (UNHCO, 2003) UNHCO is an international relief organization committed to global development of medical care as well as preventive health care for emerging nations. UNHCO is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, providing support to countries and monitoring health trends. Works Cited Chen, Pauline. Innovation of Ipad

IS THE IPAD A DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY? Technology has been moved towards advancement day after day bringing new and improved devices and system. People are always on the verge of inventing something new and exciting. About a decade ago, mobile phone was rarely used by people but now everyone has a smartphone with all the possible gadgets in it like camera, video player, internet and more. Talking about disruptive technology which almost replaced any other company in new innovation was Apple. Apple launched iPhone which was one of the major successes in disruptive technology because it provided every bit of comfort to its user while using it.When apple launched ipad in 2010 there was a huge marketing and hype about its new innovated technology in the market. It was 10 inch tablet which runs on IOS (iphone operating system) as any other apple product. The ipad only runs apps from the Apple App Store. There are thousands of these applications available in the iTunes from movies, songs, ga mes and more. The ipad is not a necessity like the smartphone which do have the same gadget however it improves the quality of life of its users.Ipad has been used by the first author in two units offered by the Department of Statistics at Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia): a second-year Introduction to Probability unit (PROB) and a masters-level unit Mathematical Background for Biostatistics (BCA), delivered through the Biostatistics Consortium of Australia (Simpson, 2009). The use of technology, particularly the use of ipad, has supported a different mode of teaching in these two units that takes account of the general needs of the students and it enables students to be responsive to their individual requests. The ipad has been used as a way to involve, and motivate students through high-level presentation and communication tools. It has changed the approach in learning, experience simpler and deeper. Students will now experience the most amazing textbooks they’ve eve r read through the means of ipad because it provides with the images and dictionary one tap away to find the meaning of any word. This facilitates the user to become more relax while reading through ipad. Talking about the market that ipad is looking to compete is kindle. A kindle is a device just like ipad but smaller than ipad.Kindle is specially design only for reading purposes. It is dark ink display which enables user to study freely in the sunlight without any hesitation unlike ipad. Ipad is more likely a multi-purpose device which is used for almost everything that we need. It is easy to study at night rather at day because of its multi-colour display. But after apple launched the new ipad it has been solidified its presence on the e-reader device market, a market that has been previously been the dominated by Amazon, with its Kindle, and Barnes and Noble. Those devices are especially dedicated to e-book readers, while the new ipad series is an e-book reader in along with its various features, such as web browsing, multimedia, and support. But that flexibility doesn't make ipad a better product than kindle. Sometimes device that can do only one thing can be way more interesting than a multi-purpose device. The smallest, lightest, least expensive, easiest for reading purposes are the black-and-white e-book readers. If user wants only a reading tablet device it is to say the kindle is the favourite excluding the joy of watching videos and images. Each company offers varieties of models which gets the best lighting conditions. The one you want is the Kindle Paper White, whose brilliance is more pleasant than the equivalent any other device out on the market With plain, no-touch, no-light Kindles, with the ads on the screen saver, are quite cheaper but the light and the touch-screen are really worth having. One of the important parts in the learning experience is when a student does not understand a topic or a step in an exercise. The easiest way to help him or her is to go through the question using written words. With the introduction of the ipad into the teaching method, written answers can be incomplete to some cases when they are applicable and an answer to a student’s question can be produced in the form of a video lecture particular to the topic or exercise. The learning module of distance students has now been completely changed. If they cannot solve a problem or face any problem with the subject material by themselves, there is a new possible way by dedicating video by the tutorial/lecturer that shows every step of the problem and solution. This format is particularly important and has been successful. Written solutions are the same as the textbook and are often unable to provide the student with a new approach on solving the problem. It is common that a lecturer’s first response to a question is not enough and students ask for more visions. A video is different because it allows the student go through every step of the explanation in a more verbal way and probes asking for further explanation after such a mini video lecture are unusual.

The Failure of Gallipoli Was Mainly Caused by Poor Allied Leadership

â€Å"The failure of Gallipoli was mainly caused by poor Allied leadership† Gallipoli is a peninsula in the Dardanelles in eastern Turkey. Gallipoli and the surrounding areas of the Dardanelles were the locations of some of the most contentious battles of the First World War in 1915 and 1916. The military campaign is well known as one of the great disasters of British military history. In 1915 the First World War in northern Europe was deadlocked and ideas were being discussed about opening up new military fronts. One suggestion, in 1915, a decision was made to help Russia who was being threatened by Turkey. An allied plan was made to attack through the Dardanelles in an attempt to take Constantinople (today known as Istanbul) to make a link with Russia. The failure of this attempt was caused by many factors. Much of the military planning was poor. The strength of the Turkish forces was greatly underestimated partly based on poor military intelligence. The initial naval attack was undertaken by older ships that were though inadequate to fight the Germans in the Atlantic but suitable to be used to fight the Turkish. The slow preparation for the naval attack allowed the Turks to fortify the waterway with mines and artillery. Following the failure of the initial naval attacks there were many delays on starting the land campaign allowing the Turks to heavily entrench the peninsula that was already very unsuitable for a military attack. â€Å"The Allies landed against the most heavily defended and best-prepared position in the Ottoman Empire. † Despite this there was evidence that some landing points were almost undefended yet the Allied troops dug in on the beaches and waited for the Turkish troops to arrive. There are many other examples of failures of military planning. Two whole military divisions were landed on the same beach within hours of each other in darkness sustaining massive casualties. Landings were made in the wrong locations, for example, next to heavily defended steep cliffs. Attacks were poorly synchronised following the initial landings, a military stalemate ensued and there were further delays in getting reinforcements although the Turks were able to reinforce continuously. The lack of progress in the campaign led to major political disagreements in Britain and senior military figures resigned followed by a change in government. While many of the problems came from poor political and military leadership and planning, other factors such as bad weather also contributed. As the conflict went on into the summer, conditions for the soldiers became appalling due to the weather and particularly dysentery diseases. More attacks were carried out, but all were ultimately unsuccessful.Probably the greatest miscalculation that was made was not only to underestimate the numbers of the Turkish troops but to also underestimate their military skill and resolve. It was almost as if the Allies felt it was much easier to overcome Tu rkish soldiers than it was to win the war in northern Europe. The Allies were fighting against soldiers who had a very strong sense of national identity. Despite being regarded as a great Allied military disaster, the Turks suffered greater losses in the campaign.Ironically, the only parts of the military campaign that were considered as a success were the troop evacuations. The Gallipoli campaign was ill conceived with disagreement at the political level with a major underestimation of the opposition forces and the military difficulty of the target. Subsequently many bad military decisions were made. While some allowances may be made for adverse weather, difficult geography and climate, most of these problems should have probably been anticipated. Most significantly there was a massive underestimation of the capability of the enemy.

Benefits Of Getting Money For Starting A Business

Ah, funding, what a topic. I’ve spent a lot of time searching for the simplest way to get money for starting a business because it takes money to turn ideas into reality. I’ve never been able to find the silver bullet. I’ve signed up for websites that supposedly connect you with â€Å"angel† investors, I’ve called the SBA for funding, I’ve gone to my bank, and I came up empty handed everywhere.
